Card Counting Pitfalls in Online Blackjack
While card counting can be a very effective strategy when you are playing blackjack in a live casino (as long as you are careful not to get caught!), card counting in a game of online blackjack can be a whole different ballgame. There are several reasons for this.
The first pitfall in online blackjack comes with the fact that in live dealer blackjack games, the online blackjack sites employ software that keeps track of players betting and looks for patterns that can easily catch card counters. Therefore, if you are card counting in an online blackjack game with a live dealer you have to be especially careful to disguise and camouflage your methods.
The second pitfall in online blackjack comes from games that do not have a live dealer. In these games there is simply no deck to count, so if you have been card counting in these games you are wasting your time. At the beginning of each hand cards are randomly generated based on a computer algorithm and at the end of each hand the cards are discarded and the game begins fresh, as if the deck has been shuffled again and again after every hand. Many card counters are unaware of this and continue to count cards in online games, wondering why they are having such a low rate of success. Therefore, it is important to understand that when it comes to online blackjack you should stick to your basic blackjack strategies and odds, rather than card counting. There are simply too many pitfalls with online card counting.
